TECEneo: The Shower Toilet That Works Without Electricity

If you're looking for a shower toilet that keeps things simple — no electrics, no complexity, just effective cleaning — the TECEneo is worth a close look.
TECE is a German sanitary systems manufacturer with a long track record in concealed cistern technology, drainage, and bathroom ceramics. The TECEneo is their latest shower toilet, launched in 2024, and it takes a deliberately different approach to a category that has historically leaned heavily on electronics, heated seats, and remote controls with fifteen buttons.
The TECEneo does none of that. It works entirely without electricity.
What Is a Shower Toilet, and Why Does It Matter?
A shower toilet — sometimes called a bidet toilet — combines a standard WC with an integrated wash function. After use, a retractable shower arm extends and delivers a gentle, targeted water stream for intimate cleaning. No toilet paper required. No separate bidet taking up floor space.
The hygiene case is well established. Water cleans more thoroughly than paper, it's gentler on sensitive skin, and it's the preferred method in many parts of the world — Japan, the Middle East, and increasingly across Europe. Proctologists routinely recommend water-based cleaning for patients with skin conditions, haemorrhoids, or post-surgical needs.
In the UK, shower toilets have historically been associated with high-end electronics and steep price points. The TECEneo changes that equation.
How the TECEneo Works — Purely Hydraulic

The TECEneo operates on water pressure alone. There is no motor, no heating element, no circuit board, and no power cable. The shower arm extends and the water flows using the pressure already present in your cold water supply.
Two rotary knobs on the side of the pan control the function: one for water temperature (where a hot water connection is available), one for flow volume. The logic is the same as turning on a tap. Anyone can operate it immediately — no learning curve, no manual, no app.
This matters for a few reasons beyond simplicity:
- No standby power consumption. The TECEneo draws nothing when not in use.
- No electrician required. Installation involves only a plumber, significantly reducing cost and coordination on a project.
- No electrician required for ongoing maintenance. With no electronic components, there is nothing to update, calibrate, or replace over time.
- Compliant with DIN EN 1717. The integrated safety device protects the potable water supply, allowing direct connection to the cold water pipe without additional backflow prevention measures.
The CeraClean Surface and Cyclone Flush

TECE has put serious thought into the ongoing cleanliness of the pan itself, not just the wash function.
The ceramic is treated with CeraClean — a dirt and water-repellent surface coating that causes water to bead and run off rather than sit and stain. Combined with a rimless design, there are no hidden surfaces under a rim where bacteria and scale can accumulate. The Cyclone Flush is notably quiet and covers the entire internal surface efficiently.
The shower arm itself is rinsed automatically before and after each extension, maintaining hygiene without any user intervention.
The slim toilet seat uses a soft-close mechanism and attaches to fixed bolts rather than the ceramic. It can be removed quickly and completely — including around the hinges — making thorough cleaning straightforward rather than an exercise in frustration.
A Shower Toilet That Simply Cleans Effectively

The TECEneo delivers a full, pleasantly soft water jet — not a trickle, not a jet wash. TECE describe it as using no more water than a water-saving tap. The result is a genuinely effective clean without the sensation of something engineered to impress in a showroom demo and disappoint in daily use.
Easy to use for every member of a household: children, elderly users, guests using it for the first time. One hand movement starts the process. The rotary controls are tactile and immediately intuitive.
Installation: Designed to Be Straightforward

The TECEneo is a wall-hung toilet designed for use with a concealed in-wall cistern frame. TECE manufacture their own range of cistern frames — the TECEprofil and TECEconstruct ranges — and the TECEneo connects via a dedicated shower toilet connection set (available for standard and slimline frames).
TECE states the toilet can be installed in approximately 30 minutes by a competent plumber, and explained in operation in around 5 minutes. The packaging doubles as a back-friendly transport aid and a spacer during installation — a small detail that reflects the engineering attention applied throughout the product.
The TECEneo is available in two configurations:
- Hot and cold water — connects to both supplies, allowing warm water washing (400 × 365 × 540mm, code 9700205)
- Cold water only — suitable for retrofits or bathrooms without a hot water run to the WC position (383 × 365 × 540mm, code 9700207)
The cold water version is particularly practical for guest bathrooms, renovation projects, or situations where running a new hot water pipe would involve significant disruption.
Retrofit Options
For existing bathrooms where the WC is already tiled in, TECE offer a retrofit design panel — a lightweight, moisture-resistant cover that fits over the existing wall surface, allowing the TECEneo cold water model to be installed without drilling, chiselling, or disturbing tiles. This opens the product to a much wider range of situations than a standard replacement requires.
Specifying the TECEneo: What You Need
A complete TECEneo installation requires:
- The TECEneo shower toilet pan (hot & cold, or cold water)
- A toilet seat — classic lid (9700600) or slim lid (9700603), both soft-close, both £129
- A shower toilet connection set — standard frames (9700700) or slimline (9700710), both £149
- An operating knob — brushed stainless steel (9700608, £79), matt black (9700606, £89), or white plastic (9820362, £45)
- A compatible in-wall cistern frame — TECEprofil or TECEconstruct, or any standard frame with the correct connection set
The TECEneo is also available as a set without shower function (9700215, £499) — the same ceramic and slim seat as a conventional wall-hung WC, for clients who want the CeraClean surface and Cyclone Flush without the wash function.
Who Is the TECEneo For?
Residential new-build and renovation — where concealed cistern installation is already planned, the TECEneo adds meaningful hygiene function at a modest premium over a standard WC. The absence of electrical requirements removes a common objection.
Guest bathrooms and secondary WCs — the cold water version retrofits without disruption and requires no electrical work, making it a practical upgrade in spaces that weren't designed for a shower toilet.
Accessible bathrooms — a shower toilet removes the need to use toilet paper, which can be significant for elderly users or those with limited mobility. The rotary knob controls are straightforward and require no fine motor precision.
Hospitality and commercial — where hygiene standards and ease of maintenance matter, and where the absence of electronics reduces long-term servicing requirements.
